A
Strong Spirit
On August 7, 2009
Jeffrey Guest was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from
the waist down.
I first met
Jeffrey about 15 years ago when he was just a 3rd grader
dreaming of being a football player. Jeffrey was too young
to play, but he would come watch his older brother practice with
the youth football team that I coached.
Jeffrey was a
gregarious, vivacious little bit who exuded confidence and
charm. He believed before he ever played football that he
would be better than the big boys he came to watch.
He was right.
Jeffrey became a Danville High School football player with the
speed and skill to take over a game. Jeffrey made plays
that often dazzled the crowd, at times changing the outcome of
the contest with his indomitable spirit.
That indomitable
spirit is once again put to the test. A test greater than
any of us can imagine or begin to understand. On August 7,
2009 Jeffrey lost his ability to walk and as you might imagine,
he wants it back.
Jeffrey believes
he can walk again, just like he believed he would be the
football player he became.
Pursuit of this
dream requires more than strong will and determination.
Rehabilitation of a spinal cord injury is extremely expensive
and Jeffrey needs help to make his new dream of walking again
come true.
Family, friends
and community members are joining together to give Jeffrey the
chance to walk again and the opportunity for rehab after his
life-changing spinal cord injury. Team Jeffrey needs your
help!
